Lindero mine, Argentina
Name of the Mine
Lindero mine.
Location
Salta, Argentina.
Mine Owner/s
Mansfield Minera, 100%-owned by Fortuna Silver Mines.
Brief Description
The Lindero property contains two known porphyry gold/copper deposits – the Lindero deposit, the focus of current mining activities at the Lindero mine and the Arizaro deposit, which is located 3.2 km south-east of the Lindero deposit.
Brief History
Fortuna acquired the fully permitted, shovel-ready development-stage Lindero project in July 2016. Over 2017, the miner optimised the feasibility study and made a positive construction decision in September 2017. Mass earthmoving activities began in 2018, and the mine's first gold pour occurred on October 20, 2020.
Primary Metals/Minerals
Gold.
Secondary Metals/Minerals
Copper.
Geology/Mineralisation
The Lindero deposit is a gold porphyry system hosted within a series of diorite to monzonite porphyritic stocks that intrude coarse-grained Ordovician granites and Early Tertiary red bed sandstones. Mineralisation forms an inward plunging semicircular shape of about 600 m in diameter and extends to a drill-tested depth of 600 m. Gold/copper mineralisation shows a strong relationship to lithology, potassium-feldspar alteration, and stockwork veining.
Reserves
Total proven and probable reserves as at December 31, 2022, were estimated at 79.22-million tonnes grading 0.57 g/t gold and 0.1% copper.
Resources
Total measured and indicated resources as at December 22, 2022, were estimated at 29.45-million tonnes grading 0.42 g/t gold and 0.1% copper. Inferred resources were estimated at 24.17-million tonnes grading 0.47 g/t gold and 0.11% copper.
Type of Mine
Openpit.
Mining Method
Conventional heap-leaching.
