Project Description
The Letsatsi and Lesedi projects are located in the Free State and the Northern Cape respectively and involve the construction of two 75 MW solar PV plants.

The projects were selected by the Department of Energy in the first round of bids under the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme in December 2011.

Both projects have executed 20-year power purchase agreements with Eskom.

Value
The projects will jointly cost R5.15-billion.

Duration
The projects are scheduled for completion in mid-2014.

Latest Developments
Construction of the plants will be undertaken by a consortium comprising ACS Cobra, Gransolar and Kensani Energy EPC.

Steel, tube and pipe manufacturer Robor has been contracted to supply steel for both projects.
