A new range of oil-lubricated compressors includes air-cooled models from 55 kW to 75 kW and is available in both fixed and regulated speeds. The compressors form part of CompAir’s L-Series range and offer up to 8% improved efficiency and up to 5% higher flow rate than previous models.

The range incorporates many of the features that the previous models, such as an automatic motor lubrication system as standard to help reduce downtime and increase the lifespan of motor bearings, as well as a semi-integrated airend and Victaulic fittings for easy maintenance and reduced leakage risks.

A range of key new benefits have also been added, such as a newly designed, semi-integrated airend, featuring a new rotor profile that aims to deliver outstanding performance while reducing noise and vibration levels. The airend is manufactured in-house, at the company’s Centre of Excellence in Simmern, Germany and has been designed with a larger-sized inlet and outlet, to help  increase air flow and limit pressure drop.

For variable speed models, the new airend comes with an automatic oil regulation valve, which controls the oil’s discharge temperature according to environmental conditions and helps remove the risk of condensate and resultant corrosion. It also helps to ensure that the oil in the system remains at suitably high standard, which is said to improve efficiency levels by up to 5%. The valve and oil filter are integrated into the airend’s housing, helping to eliminate the risk of oil leaks while also simplifying maintenance.

CompAir’s Assure warranty covers the airend for up to ten years or for 44 000 hours.

All doors on the unit are hinged for easy removal and improved accessibility, while service parts, such as separators and filters, have been optimised for ease of maintenance. For instance, the systems’ new separator design provides an oil reservoir that helps reduce pressure drop and also includes a hinged top plate and a single integrated seal, which means that O-rings do not need to be removed and re-fitted during maintenance.

The compact and simple design of the latest L-Series range means the new compressors are 11% smaller than older models and are said to be up to 8% smaller than competitor technologies.

The compressors feature the Delcos XL touchscreen controller, designed to be a user-friendly, intuitive and visual means of monitoring the operating parameters of the units. The iConn monitoring service is also a standard feature, allowing operators to manage the performance of the system through the use of data statistics and insights, and alerting users to any potential problems with the compressed air system.

The systems include an efficient IE3 electric motor, with the option of upgrading to an ultra-efficient, energy-saving IE4 electric motor. The units are capable of delivering pressure ranges from 5 bar to 13 bar and volume flow between 2.1 m3/min to 14.03 m3/min.

“Critically, the new models can help deliver significant cost savings. Our research has shown that a 75 kW regulated speed system running at 7.5 bar, for instance, can help save more than €5 000 ($ 6 000) a year when compared with our older models, and more than €6 500 ($8 000) a year when compared with some competitor models,” says CompAir product leader Guru Kabad.

“The system is also offered with an extensive range of options to suit a user’s unique requirements. For example, integrated heat recovery is one option, which can play an important role in contributing towards a company’s sustainability goals and green credentials. Other options include alternative operating voltages, an integrated water separator and a base load selector,” concludes Kabad.
