La Castellana wind power project.

Location
The project is located in the department of Villarino, near Bahia Blanca, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Client
CP La Castellana, a subsidiary of Central Puerto (CEPU).

Project Description
The project entails the construction and operation of a 100.8 MW wind power plant, a transformation substation and a 37 km transmission line connecting the wind farm and substation to Argentina’s national grid.

The project will use thirty-two 3.15 MW wind turbine generators, each linked to the on-site 33 kV collector switchgear.

The voltage will then be stepped up to a transmission voltage of 132 kV at the on-site substation and will be evacuated through the project transmission line, which will finally connect to the Chañares substation.

A local hiring policy will give preference to the local workforce.

The project is estimated at $154-million.

Duration
Construction was expected to begin in April, with start-up expected in April 2018.
