Project Description
The Kohala hydropower project is part of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor, a 3 000-km-long network of roads, railways and energy infrastructure to assist development in Pakistan.
The project involves the construction of a 1 100 MW run-of-river scheme on the Jhelum river, in AJK.
The scheme will have a gravity roller, roller-compacted concrete dam on the upper tributary of the Jhelum.
The powerhouse, on the lower tributary of the Jhelum, will house four 275 MW turbines.
