PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Junior Kingsrose Mining on Thursday announced that it would suspend normal mining activities at its Way Linggo mine, in Indonesia, as ore production rates continued to fall.

The miner said that it would start a “step-back” review of the Way Linggo mine and its surrounds in order to find nearby lodes.

During the quarter ended June, the amount of ore mined from the Way Linggo project declined to 4 234 t, compared with the 8 289 t mined in the previous quarter, with the operation only producing 446 oz of gold and 10 889 oz of silver.

Kingsrose said that a review in June also saw the suspension of all nonessential spending, while staff numbers fell by 153 as Kingsrose worked to optimise the use of mining and operations personnel.

Meanwhile, the company would also focus its attention on restarting operations at the Talang Santo mine, after receiving written approval from the Ministry of Minerals and Energy Resources in June.

The Talang Santo operation is the second underground mine at the Way Linggo gold project, is some 17 km from project infrastructure, and has a resource of 287 489 oz of gold and 894 951 oz of silver.
