Project Description
The project involves the construction of a 125 ha, 40 MW alternating current photovoltaic solar power plant in Kern County, California.

In its first year, Kingbird will produce enough clean renewable energy to power more than 11 000 homes, offsetting more than 20 000 t/y of carbon dioxide and displacing more than 18 000 t/y of water.

Depending on final permitting, construction on the project could start in mid-2014, with commissioning expected late in 2015.

Latest Developments
First Solar has signed power purchase agreements with member cities of the Southern California Public Power Authority.

The cities of Pasadena, Riverside, Colton and Azusa signed 20-year power purchase agreements that will supply power from the solar plant to the cities’ municipal power utilities.
