The Khurais oilfield comprises 2 890 km2.

The light crude increment programme covers three oilfields – Khurais, Abu Jifan and Mazlij.

The aim is to increase production capacity at the Khurais central processing facilities from 1.2-million barrels of oil per calendar day to 1.5-million barrels of oil per calendar day.

Production will also be increased from the Mazlij and Abu Jifan fields through the installation of a satellite gas oil separation plant.

Foster Wheeler has been awarded a contract for the front-end engineering and design (Feed) for Saudi Aramco’s Khurais Arabian light crude increment programme.

Foster Wheeler will be responsible for the Feed, equipment and material specifications, the development of a cost estimate and the procurement from long-lead items.

The Feed is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2014.
