WARSAW – Polish copper producer KGHM Polska Miedz said on Tuesday it expects no big negative impact on sales or core earnings from the recent breakdown of a smelter in the city of Glogow.

"We hope that we will be able to recoup some losses," CEO Radoslaw Domagalski-Labedzki told reporters.

"One has to remember that this was a furnace breakdown, while the concentrate is produced all the time, so the negative impact on sales or EBITDA will not be significant, although I'm not saying that it will not have an impact at all."

KGHM said last week that an accident at the smelter would result in output falling by 14 000 t.
