Karot Power Company Limited (KPCL).

Project Description
The project involves the construction, operation and maintenance of a 720 MW run-of-river hydropower plant under a build, own, operate and transfer scheme.

The plant will be located on the Jhelum river, will include a 95.5-m-high dam and a 27-km-long reservoir, and is expected to generate an average output of 3 436 GWh/y.

It will impound 152-million cubic metres of water at a normal pool level of 461 m above sea level and extend upstream up to 5.54 km² into the narrow canyon that will submerge the bare and unproductive areas around the riverbed.

Three diversion tunnels have been envisaged to divert the river flows during the construction of the main dam.

KPCL will sell all the electricity generated to the National Transmission and Despatch Company of Pakistan under a 30-year power purchase agreement.

Value
$1.4-billion.
