Kachi construction continues - Lake Resources
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Lake Resources on Monday noted that construction of the demonstration plant at its Kachi lithium project, in Argentina, continued unabated, despite the dispute with partner Lilac Solutions.
Lake last week flagged the dispute with Lilac over the timeline for the Kachi pilot plant, with Lake holding that Lilac would have to reach its milestone earn-in by the end of September, while Lilac held firm that it had until November to reach these milestones to earn a 25% stake in the project.
The milestones included Lilac completing at least 1 000 hours of operation at the pilot plant and producing a lithium carbonate feed of at least 2 500 kg from on-site operations.
Lake on Monday told shareholders that construction of the facility to house the demonstration plant is now complete, and that dry commissioning started on September 14.
Subject to the completion of dry commissioning, Lilac expects to begin wet commissioning on September 22, and once this has been completed, the development partner will begin in-site processing of Kachi brines in the first week of October.
Lake said that while the test program is based on operating the demonstration plant for 1 000 hours it is anticipated that the first 2 000 litres of lithium concentrate produced from the demonstration plant will be sent for conversion into lithium carbonate once delivered.
Lake proposes that this final lithium product will then be qualified by a tier 1 battery maker to validate product specifications.
Offtake discussions for the lithium product continue to advance, the company added.
