JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – TSX-listed Euro Sun on Wednesday announced that commodities expert Jim Rogers had joined its advisory board.

Euro Sun chairperson Stan Bharti said Rogers, who is an author and speaker promoting commodity investments globally, would be of great assistance to the company, particularly his expertise in precious and base metals in Asia.

The company noted that Rogers, along with George Soros, founded the Quantum Fund in 1973. "The Quantum Fund was one of the first truly international funds with the portfolio gaining 4 200% while the S&P advanced about 47% from 1970 to 1980. In 1980, Rogers decided to 'retire' and spent some of his time travelling on a motorcycle around the world."

On Tuesday, Euro Sun announced that a former Romanian government adviser, Eugen Popitiu, had been appointed as its public relations manager.

Euro Sun has been granted a mining licence for the Rovina gold/copper project, in Romania. The project hosts 10.84-million gold equivalent ounces (7.19-million ounces of gold grading 0.55 g/t and 1.42-million pounds of copper grading 0.16%), making it the second-largest gold deposit in Europe.
