Ivernia warns of transport issues at Paroo Station
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – TSX-listed Ivernia has warned that rail operations from its Paroo Station lead mine, in Western Australia, would be suspended for two to three weeks, owing to rain damage.
The affected rail line stretches from Leonora to Kalgoorlie.
Ivernia uses the railway line to transport its lead concentrate to the Port of Fremantle, for shipping to overseas customers.
The company said this week that it was currently working through options to maintain deliveries and to minimise the potential impact on cash flow. Despite the rail disruptions, Ivernia has maintained its sales guidance for the full year at between 80 000 t and 85 000 t.
Operations at the Paroo Station mine were restarted in April last year, after being placed on care and maintenance in 2011 owing to lead being found in a sample of dried mud on the bottom of a shipping container.
The state government subsequently approved new management plans for the operation.
