Kimberley Diamond Symposium And Trade Show
The international diamond business, which has strong roots in Kimberley, will be returning to Kimberley from 11 – 13 September 2014 when the Kimberley Diamond Symposium and Trade Show will once again be held in the town.  This international event will be held in the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre, at the Big Hole Mine Museum.  A previous highly successful Kimberley Diamond Symposium and Trade Show was held in 2007. The September 2014 event will include a day and a half of oral presentations and poster displays covering all aspects of diamonds and their origin, kimberlites, diamond mining, mining and processing technology, alluvial diamond deposits, and related topics.  These oral presentations and poster displays will be given by experts in their field, including leading international experts from South Africa, Australia, Botswana, Brazil, Canada, Russia, the UK, and other parts of the world.

A Trade Show will run in tandem with the symposium and will include displays of plant, equipment and products by leading equipment suppliers, a range of key service providers to the diamond industry, and geological and scientific groups who actively work in the local, African, and international diamond exploration and mining business.  The Trade Show will also be held at the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre. On Thursday 10 and Saturday 11 September underground mine visits and field trips will take place to the Kimberley and Finsch underground mines, the famous Kimberley mantle nodule dumps, local tailings dump retreatment operations, and alluvial mining operations in the Barkly West area, the Vaal River, and Middle Orange River west of Douglas.

The symposium will include various functions at the Kimberley Club, Big Hole Mine Museum, a Diggers Braai at the Old Boy’s Club, and delegates and their partners will also have the opportunity to visit historical places of interest including museums, art galleries, mine sites, famous buildings, and Boer War sites during, before, during, and after the event.
