A new integrated video-based fleet management solution offers a single interface experience, enabling users to access and manage both vehicles and in-vehicle cameras simultaneously.

Telematics provider Webfleet Solutions, part of Bridgestone, has collaborated with global video telematics provider Lytx, to develop the new WEBFLEET Video solution that integrates camera technology into a fleet management system.

The system combines Webfleet Solutions’ vehicle and driving data with Lytx’s machine vision and artificial intelligence-powered camera technology to give users the full context of how a fleet is operating on the road. It offers users greater insight into critical events, with the aim of helping to prevent accidents, increase driver safety, enhance fleet efficiency and reduce the frequency and cost of insurance claims.

“Many fleet managers today leverage more than one technology, which can be a lot to juggle. Finding opportunities to consolidate is crucial. Through this integration, customers will be able to seamlessly access industry-leading video-based driver behaviour and fleet management insights,” says Lytx Europe VP Damian Penney.

The combination of video and telematics data is designed to safeguard drivers and fleets in a number of ways, for instance using data related to driving behaviour, such as idling or harsh braking, to provide insights and real-time feedback to support drivers to drive more safely on an ongoing basis. Video technology can also be used to give fleet managers a better understanding of why certain events may occur, can provide evidence in the event of road traffic incidents and can be used to protect drivers against non-fault or fraudulent claims.
