False Bay TVET College Centre for Entrepreneurship/ Rapid Incubator (CfE/RI) is the proud recipient of the Productivity SA Western Cape Regional Award in the Public Sector category.

In presenting the awards at the River Club in Cape Town on 3 September, Productivity SA acknowledged and celebrated organisations, individuals and communities in the Western Cape that are making significant contributions to making South Africa a productive country.

Productivity SA, an entity of the Department of Employment and Labour, organises the regional awards events in each province as well as the national awards to be hosted in Johannesburg on 17 October 2019.

Explaining why the College got the nod, CEO of Productivity SA, Mr Bongani Coka, said that as the country’s fight against unemployment intensifies, it is through organisations such as the CfE/RI that poverty could be holistically tackled.

The three category winners at the 2019 Western Cape Regional Productivity Awards were:

  • Emerging Sector: Wagner Systems (Pty) Ltd and Vortex Design Solutions

  • Corporate Sector: Keedo International (Pty) Ltd

  • Public Sector: False Bay TVET College Centre for Entrepreneurship/ Rapid Incubator

The Productivity Awards aim to inspire and promote productivity across all industries, promote South Africa’s highly specialised programmes and assist companies to increase South Africa’s global competitiveness. Candidates are shortlisted after a thorough and independent adjudication process and visited to verify their competition entry. The winners are selected after an evaluation report is submitted, all scores are tabulated and supporting criteria scrutinised.

The College’s journey with Productivity SA started when Senior Productivity Advisor, Ms Charlene Steyn, was a guest speaker at one of the CfE/RI development workshops. Impressed by the CfE/RI’s development and support of youth entrepreneurs and community businesses and its efforts to create entrepreneurship awareness, she recommended that the College should enter the Western Cape competition.
