The project includes the establishment of a plant at Madhepura, in Bihar state, and maintenance depots at Saharanpur, in Uttar Pradesh, and Nagpur.

The contract is estimated at more than €3-billion.
Duration
The delivery of the locomotives is expected between 2018 and 2028.
Latest Developments
Alstom has received a letter of award from the Ministry of Railways for the double-section freight electric locomotives.
The Prima locomotive for Indian Railways will be 9 000 kW at the wheel rim and will run at a speed of up to 120 km/h.
