JSE-listed Impala Platinum Holdings (Implats) has announced that the criminal charges against its subsidiary Impala Platinum Limited have been withdrawn.

Impala was, in April, charged with alleged contraventions of certain regulations issued in terms of the provisions of the Disaster Management Act 57 of 2020.

The charges were related to a call made by the company for employees to return to work early in April.

Mark Munroe, CEO of the company’s Rustenburg mining operations, appeared in the Bafokeng Magistrate’s Court on August 17, representing the subsidiary.

Implats says it continues to prioritise and advance global best practice measures to help slow the spread of Covid-19.
