Gantsho to step in as Implats chairperson in October

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – JSE-listed platinum miner Impala Platinum (Implats) has appointed Dr Mandla Gantsho as independent nonexecutive chairperson, effective October 21.

He would succeed Dr Khotso Mokhele who would step down as director and chairperson at Implats’ annual general meeting.

Gantsho had been independent nonexecutive director at Implats since August 2010. He was currently also chairperson of energy and chemicals company Sasol and KwaZulu-Natal’s provincial development agency Ithala Development Finance Corporation chairperson and investment and advisory firm Africa Rising Capital’s CEO.

Prior to this, he served as African Development Bank’s operations: infrastructure, private sector and regional integration VP, AMG CEO and Development Bank of South Africa MD.
