Project description
Illovo Sugar has approved a major expansion in Zambia, whereby an additional 10 500 ha of irrigated cane will be developed by the company and its growers, representing a 50% increase in area.

Further, the factory at Nakambala will be expanded to produce 440 000 t/y of sugar, an increase of about 200 000 t compared with the current year's figures.

R1,4-billion.

Duration
The project will be undertaken over two years, with the expansion starting in early April 2007. The first phase of the expansion will be completed in time for the start of the 2008/9 sugar season.
