High energy consumption ‘filtered out’ with Atlas Copco energy efficient filters

Company Announcement - Sensitive to the necessity for industry across the globe to conserve rapidly dwindling energy resources, Atlas Copco offers a range of class leading filters which impacts positively on the energy efficiency of an Atlas Copco compressor installation.
As soon as a filter is fitted, the clogging process starts and the pressure drops gradually, which increases at a rate dependent on environmental and working conditions. According to Atlas Copco Compressor Technique’s Business Line Managers for Industrial Air Division and Oil Free Air, Charl Ackerman and Pieter van Wyk, each drop of 0.5 in bar pressure draws as much as 3% more energy, which leads to an increase in power consumption and operational costs. “For example, in a 100 l/s compressed air system operating at 7 bar during 6000 hours per annum, an additional pressure drop of 150 mbar will increase annual power consumption by approximately 2 000 kW!”
The Atlas Copco filter range is specially designed to reduce the pressure drop to minimal proportions which dramatically reduces power consumption and maintenance costs, with a consequent boost to overall efficiency. “Most often,” notes Ackerman and Van Wyk, “it is a small inexpensive change such as the simple fitment of the right quality component like an Atlas Copco filter that can make a big difference to productivity and profitability.” “We remain on the forefront of technology to consistently deliver complete clean, quality air solutions to the South and Southern African markets, supported by our experienced team of skilled, competent service engineers,” concludes Ackerman and Van Wyk.
Atlas Copco, a Swedish multinational and Engineering Company with more than 140 years of experience, is internationally accepted as a leading specialist in the development, design and manufacture of technologically advanced reliable, efficient compressed air products. Atlas Copco is ISO 9001 certified and the extensive product portfolio is manufactured in compliance with international environmental conservation standards (ISO 14001 certification). Customer driven, the Company believes that by exchanging views with, listening to what the customer wants and understanding what value means to the customer, products are designed to satisfy customer requirements. Atlas Copco leaves no stone unturned in researching every possibility to assist customers across mining and industry with minimising energy consumption and maximising processes for mine and plant sustainability.
