Helping miners keep ahead of the game
In just three weeks, AIMEX 2013 – the most significant mining event in Australia this year – will open its doors to the Asia-Pacific mining industry, showcasing a myriad of solutions to miners looking for productivity improvements and keep on top of the challenges and opportunities they are facing. The largest and longest-running mining event in Australia, Asia-Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition – AIMEX, will be held at the Sydney Showground from August 20-23. “For mining companies and service providers looking to rise to the challenges and structural changes the industry is currently going through, AIMEX 2013 is the single most important event on the mining calendar, said Paul Baker, Exhibition Director with AIMEX organiser Reed Mining Events.
“There is a number of reasons why AIMEX is so important to the Australian and Asia-Pacific mining industry in 2013. “Mining companies have sharply increased their focus on productivity and driving down operating costs – and there are significant opportunities for those who can meet these challenges. “At the same time, the Australian mining industry is in the process of a major structural change as miners shift from infrastructure construction to production – and that will mean openings for those best able to meet these shifting demands,” he said. A recent report by multinational professional services firm Ernst & Young has highlighted the fact that those mining industry companies with the ability to diversify and deliver productivity and cost-saving benefits were most likely to succeed in this rapidly changing mining climate.
“AIMEX 2013 – with its strong focus among our 650 exhibitors on launching and showing products and services aimed at enhancing productivity and reducing operating costs – presents a unique opportunity for miners looking for that competitive edge,” Baker said. “AIMEX is a truly international exhibition, with suppliers of products and services from throughout Australia and around the world coming to show their latest innovations and new product offerings to the Asia-Pacific region’s mining industry. “For miners and mining services providers, AIMEX 2013 will offer a once-only occasion to see the latest technology and service offerings with relevance to the entire mining sector – across earthmoving, production, processing, bulk handling and exploration.
“An important element of our strategy for AIMEX 2013 has been working with our exhibitors to ensure that the exhibition covers all aspects of mining: metalliferous and coal, surface and underground – giving it great relevance to mining operations the length and breadth of Australia. “Furthermore, many exhibitors will be using AIMEX 2013 to launch exciting new technologies, which will increase operational efficiency, help cut operating costs, and boost productivity – all solutions that the Asia-Pacific mining industry is looking for as the mining cycle moves to the next phase,” Baker said. “AIMEX 2013 will provide an ideal opportunity to see the latest developments across a wide range of operational areas.”
He said that as a result of the deeper industry knowledge and expertise of Reed Mining Events’ management team, there had been a strong focus on ensuring AIMEX 2013 would present new products and services across those key areas where miners are looking to improve the cost-effectiveness of their operations. “We know that miners are looking at the latest developments in mine and equipment management systems and services – including and automated systems – along with the IT solutions and processes to drive and manage their operations,” Baker said. “At the same time, miners are looking for highly skilled and experienced engineering and fabrication services – and we have a number of exhibitors offering such services.
“The other way miners and mining services companies can cut their costs is through reduced total cost of ownership of plant and equipment – and AIMEX 2013 will introduce to Australia a significant number of lower-cost mining equipment offerings from China, Central Europe, India and other non-traditional supply sources.” Baker said AIMEX 2013 also offered invaluable networking opportunities with miners from throughout Australia and the region. “AIMEX 2013 will be the biggest gathering of miners in the Asia-Pacific region this year, and a chance for mining industry professionals from Australia and the Asia-Pacific region to network with their peers, make new connections and learn about new ways of doing business in this fast-changing industry.”
