A helicopter pilot sustained minor injuries following a forced landing event at the Johnson Tract exploration project, in Alaska, on Wednesday.

TSX-V-listed explorer HighGold said the helicopter, operated by a local contractor, sustained significant damage in the incident.

A second helicopter remained on site to service three drill rigs in operation, as well as geophysical and geological survey crews, the company added.

Johnson Tract gold project contains an indicated resource of 2.14-million tonnes, grading 10.93 g/t gold equivalent for 750 000 gold-equivalent ounces (GEO) and an additional inferred resource of 0.58-million tonnes, grading 7.16 g/t for 134 000 GEO.

Meanwhile, fellow TSX-V-listed Garibaldi Resources said on Wednesday that it would resume operations at the E&L Nickel Mountain project this week, following a fatal aviation accident on August 17.

The accident occurred at Nickel Mountain, in north-west British Columbia.
