Name and Location
Hamersley iron project, Australia.

Client
Winmar Resources and Cazaly Resources.

Project Description
A scoping study on the Hamersley project has indicated that the project is economically viable.

Based on the current mineral resource of 42.6-million tonnes, at 55.2% iron, the project could sustain an initial two-million-tonne-a-year direct shipping ore (DSO) project.

According to the scoping study, the DSO project will operate for the first three to four years, after which a wet beneficiated fines ore process, with a capacity for about two-million tonnes a year, will be introduced for the remainder of the 14-year mine life.

Value
The initial DSO project will allow for a lower initial capital requirement and present a lower risk profile to develop the deposit, while also offering access to a larger number of contractors that can operate at the proposed capacity.

Revenue generated from the DSO project will be used to fund the wet processing plant upgrade.

Duration
Not stated.

Latest Developments
Winmar is expected to launch a scoping study on the infrastructure requirements for its Hamersley project.

The infrastructure scoping study will prove up the economic viability of transporting the iron-ore from mine gate to a suitable port facility and will examine transportation options that include a combination of road and rail, in conjunction with available port infrastructure options.

Together with the Hamersley scoping study, the infrastructure study will provide the project partners with key information that will assist partners in identifying and collaborating on strategic infrastructure solutions.

The infrastructure study was expected to take five to six weeks to complete.
Meanwhile, Winmar has initiated a prefeasibility study on the Hamersley project. Metallurgical testwork is also planned to confirm the processing parameters and to possibly upgrade the resource.

Key Contracts and Suppliers
None stated.

On Budget and on Time?
Not stated.
