Project Description
The project entails the expansion of the existing Grootegeluk 2 plant to enable the production of 1.7-million to 2.7-million tonnes a year of semisoft coking coal.

Potential Job Creation
Up to 2 000 contract positions at peak construction. Around 100 permanent positions once the plant is in operation.

Net Present Value/Internal Rate of Return

Capital Expenditure
R4.8-billion.

Planned Start /End Date
First production is expected in the second half of this year (2019), with full production expected by the end of 2020.

Latest Developments
The replacement contractors on the Group Five scope of work have started with construction activities, which are progressing well. The project team together with operations continue working on action plans to minimise any volume, value and cost impact caused by the expected three to six months delay
