Project Description
The project entails the development of the first grid-level solar electric generating plant at Agahozo Shalom Youth Village, in Rwamagana district. The facility will be the first of its kind in East Africa.

The plant will produce 8.5 MW.

Value
The estimated value of the project is $23-million.

Duration
A feasibility study has already been completed and the plant is expected to be operational in June 2014.

Latest Developments
The Rwandan government signed a power purchase agreement with Gigawatt Global Rwanda in June to develop a first grid-level solar electricity generating plant.
