Gorzów combined heat and power plant, Poland
Name and Location
Gorzów combined heat and power plant, Poland.
Client
PGE GiEK.
Project Description
The project involves the construction of a turnkey combined heat and power plant in the city of Gorzów Wielkopolski, in western Poland.
The power plant will replace a currently used coal-fired block at the same location.
Gorzów will be fired with nitrogen-rich natural gas, which has a lower calorific value than conventional natural gas.
The combined-cycle power plant, with district heat extraction, will be able to generate electricity in a much more efficient and environmentally friendly manner. Compared with the old coal-fired power plant, the new plant will produce 95% less sulphur dioxide emissions and reduce nitrogen dioxide emissions by more than 30% and by more than 95% less particulate emissions.
The plant will have an electric capacity of 138 MW and a thermal capacity of 90 MW, owing to the plant’s combined heat and power. Its fuel efficiency rating will be 84%.
Value
Not stated.
Duration
Commissioning is planned for early 2016.
