Project Owner/s
Golden Triangle Polymers, a joint venture between Chevron Phillips Chemical (51%) and QatarEnergy (49%).

Project Description
The complex will use ethane derived from US shale gas as the feedstock for the production of ethylene and high-density polyethylene.

The project will include two one-million-tonne-a-year high-density polyethylene units.

The ethylene plant will have a production capacity of 2.08-million tonnes a year, one of the biggest such plants in the world, to help meet increasing demand for polymer products.

Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to create more than 500 full-time jobs and an estimated 4 500 construction jobs, and generate an estimated $50-billion for the community in residual economic impacts.

Capital Expenditure
$8.5-billion.

Planned Start/End Date
The plant is scheduled to start operations in 2026.
