JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – The Sierra Leone National Minerals Agency has given Aim-listed diamond development company Golden Saint Resources formal approval to start bulk sampling at its Tongo licence and its Moa project.

This was in addition to the existing approval to conduct bulk sampling at its Baja project.

In March, Golden Saint sent 35 stream sediment samples from the Moa project, plus 43 stream sediment samples and three bulk samples from the Baja project, to Diatech Heavy Mineral Services for analysis.

The company revealed in a quarterly operational update that initial examination of the bulk samples recovered a 0.348 ct diamond.

The Tongo bulk sampling programme had now started, with the mobile diamond washer Explorer I fully operational. The bulk sampling preparation for Moa, which includes public relation exercises and the construction of a temporary labour camp, was under way.
