Montreal, QC- Global Mining Standards and Guidelines Group Workshop: Creating community to drive operational excellence

The Global Mining and Standards Group, an organization for global mining collaboration on solutions to common industry problems, needs and technology through standards, guidelines and best practices is pleased to announce their upcoming Mining Technology and Standards Forum, to be held during the CIM 2014 Convention in Vancouver, British Colombia.

Attendees will find out about implementation of new technology solutions in mines, and how standards, guidelines, and cross-industry collaboration enables operational excellence across the mine life. There will be updates on GMSG activities as well as a full-day program of industry presentations and panelists on technology developments and standards and guidelines for mining.

The Forum is quickly building a stellar speaker line-up that will provide a platform for meaningful, knowledgeable discussion about how mining will enable innovation. Speakers and panelists will include: Joy Global Mohammad Ashraf, Director of Business Development and Sales; Shell Canada: John Rhind, COO; Goldcorp: Maryse Belanger, Senior Vice President, Technical Services; CRC Mining: Paul Lever, CEO; Andrew Scott, Senior Director, Mining Information Technology, Barrick Gold and more.

Throughout the day, industry case studies and panel discussions will focus around four themes: human factors and open connectivity; underground communications; cross-sectorial technology standards and guidelines and a high level panel on the need for mining standards. This unique event is an opportunity to explore the implementation of guidelines, standards and protocols in mine operations and exchange information, developments, and lessons learned between stakeholder groups.

Attendance is free, though space is limited. Please RSVP to GMSG Managing Director Heather Ednie mailto: hednie@cim.org as soon as possible to reserve your place at the forum on Wednesday, May 14, from 8:30-5:00, at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
