Consulting engineering firm GIBB on Thursday announced its proposed acquisition of a major interest in architectural firm Stauch Vorster International to create a multidisciplinary firm that would have the ability to operate in a range of public, commercial and infrastructural disciplines and market sectors.

The proposed deal was conditional on Competition Commission approval and certain other conditions precedent.

“Our ambition is simple. We aim to be a world-class provider of engineering and architectural services by offering world-class turnkey solutions to our clients. Adding the architectural skills and reputation of Stauch Vorster to our proven engineering capabilities brings us closer to realising that ambition,” explained GIBB group CEO Richard Vries.

Stauch Vorster director Kevan Moses stated that the partnership with GIBB would strengthen the firm’s existing footprint in Africa and would enable it to broaden its capabilities in infrastructural disciplines.

He added that the two companies shared a common vision of confidence in Africa, and were remarkably similar in their cultures.

Staunch Vorster would retain its architectural independence, freedom of manoeuvre and its visual brand identity, following the conclusion of the deal, Vries said, explaining that GIBB’s aim was “to rather focus on the synergies between the companies and enhance our value proposition to our clients”.

“Stauch Vorster’s strong footprint into Africa further complements GIBB’s intention of growing its market share outside South Africa,” he said.
