Toronto-listed Mountain Province Diamonds has started a ramp-up to resume operations at the Gahcho Kué mine, where production was suspended on February 6 after experiencing several cases of Covid-19.

CEO Stuart Brown said on Friday that plans to mitigate the loss of production were being assessed and would be reviewed over the coming weeks.

"The return of our employees to site is a positive step for Gahcho Kué as we continue our safe ramp-up to steady-state operations. I'd like to thank all employees for their tireless efforts during these challenging times,” he said.

Mountain Province owns Gahcho Kué, in Northwest Territories, in a joint venture with De Beers.
