Project Description
The 270 km, 16-inch Fortescue River gas pipeline project will be built, owned and operated by the FRGP joint venture. The pipeline will be the longest gas pipeline built in Western Australia during the past ten years. The pipeline is contracted to the Fortescue Metals Group under a 20-year agreement. Gas will be delivered through the existing Dampier-to-Bunbury natural gas pipeline and the new Fortescue river gas pipeline to the power station at Fortescue’s Solomon Hub, 60 km north of Tom Price.
The conversion of the 125 MW Solomon power station from diesel to gas will underpin the initial stage of the pipeline and is expected to save Fortescue about $20-million a year.
Value
$178-million.
Duration
Construction of the Fortescue pipeline is expected to start in July and be operational early in 2015.
Latest Developments
