In his position as the new CEO of water utility Amatola Water, Lefadi Makibinyane would be responsible for driving the utility’s 20-year strategy, which was in its second year of implementation.

He would also be expected to play a critical role in steering the Amatola board as it strengthened its role in water services delivery in the Eastern Cape.

The former Consulting Engineers South Africa (Cesa) CEO took up the position at Amatola on February 2, succeeding former interim CEO Mzimkulu Msiwa.

Makibinyane is an accomplished engineer and has worked in various leadership positions in both public and corporate institutions, including for the City of Tshwane metropolitan municipality, Fieldstone Africa, the Industrial Development Corporation, South African Breweries (SAB) and Sasol, besides others.
