Project Description
The project will double FMHL’s capacity from 240 MW to 480 MW, making FMHL Switzerland’s second-most powerful pumped-storage power station.
The two new 120 MW turbines are housed in a 100-m-long, 25-m-wide and 56-m-high cavern, and are controlled remotely.
The power station is expected to generate about one-billion kilowatt hours of peak energy a year.
Switzerland’s largest pumped-storage project is Linthal (1 000 MW), which was inaugurated in January 2016.
