Name and Location
Floating solar panel array project, London, UK.

Client
Thames Water.

Project Description
The project involves the installation of Europe’s largest floating solar panel array on London’s Queen Elizabeth II reservoir.

More than 23 000 solar panels will be floated on the reservoir near Walton-on-Thames, as part of Thames Water’s plans to self-generate a third of its own energy by 2020. The floating pontoon will cover about a tenth of the reservoir – enough to fill eight Wembley football pitches.

The array will have a total installed peak capacity of 6.3 MW and is expected to generate 5.8-million kilowatt hours in its first year – equivalent to the consumption of about 1 800 homes.
