Flexenclosure’s eCentre data centre, built for Angola Comunicações e Sistemas, has been named as a finalist for the 2016 Datacenter Dynamics EMEA Modular Data Centre award.  Follows eCentre win in last month’s Latin American DCD awards.

The Datacenter Dynamics awards recognise leadership and innovation in the data centre industry, with the modular category being awarded to the project that best symbolises the flexibility, versatility and scalability of modular data centre design, as well as the added value it delivers to both the operator and its customers.

Designed and built by Flexenclosure in the Angolan capital Luanda, the ACS data centre is the most advanced facility of its kind in the country and one of the largest prefabricated data centres in all of Africa.  It serves as a high redundancy hub for ACS’ national and international fibre and satellite communications services; provides hosting services for corporate and banking customers; and it has future-proofed ACS’ corporate business as it can be easily expanded without interrupting on-going services.

“We are delighted that our eCentre project with ACS has been shortlisted for this prestigious award,” said David King, CEO, Flexenclosure.  “This and our recent success in Latin America – winning the DCD best modular implementation award for our project with Tigo Business Paraguay – proves that Flexenclosure’s eCentre is the industry-leading solution for new data centre facilities anywhere in the world.”

“Our goal is to deliver world class services to our customers.  To do that we needed a world-class data centre facility, and that’s exactly what we have built with Flexenclosure,” said Carlos Carvalho, CTO, Angola Comunicações e Sistemas.  “We are very proud to have been recognised for this award – proof of our commitment to bring the most advanced technology to Angola.”

Flexenclosure has been recognized at a multitude of ICT and environmental awards over the years, including Red Herring Top 100, Sustania 100, International Green Awards, AfricaCom Awards and GSMA Global Mobile Awards.
