The project proposes the construction of a wind farm in the vicinity of Flat Hill north-west of Bluff, in Southland.

The wind farm will comprise up to eight turbines, with a maximum total capacity of 6.8 MW, enough to power the equivalent of 3 000 homes.

The operation will connect directly into electricity network management company PowerNet 33 kV distribution line.

On Budget and on Time?
The wind farm was first proposed in 2011 and approved in 2012, however, the project was opposed by Te Ao Incorporated, which submitted an appeal. This has recently been withdrawn, paving the way for the wind farm’s construction.
