PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Junior gold miner Doray Minerals has started commissioning of the Andy Well gold processing plant, in Western Australia.

The ASX-listed Doray said that commissioning was expected to take some four weeks, meaning that gold production at Andy Well would likely start in August.

MD Allan Kelly said on Friday that the original development schedule outlined in the bankable feasibility study, had construction and development starting in September 2012, with first gold production initially expected in July.

“Due to permitting delays, we didn’t actually start work on site until mid-November last year. Using the same timeline, first gold production wasn’t, therefore, expected until September of this year. Instead, despite starting over two months late, and pending a successful completion of commissioning, we should be pouring first gold within a few weeks of that original schedule,” he said.

Meanwhile, Doray noted that underground development of the high-grade Wilber lode deposit continued on schedule, with first ore expected during July. The first stoping ore was scheduled for September/October, once sufficient capital development had been completed.

As with the Stage 1 openpit operations, ore from the underground mine would be stockpiled for future treatment once the processing plant was commissioned.

The Andy Well project currently hosted a resource of some 1.22-million tons, at 11.3 g/t gold for 444 000 contained ounces.
