Name of the Project
Fertiliser plant.

Location
The project will be located in Wloclawek, about 200 km north-west of Warsaw, in Poland, at an existing chemical and fertiliser complex.

Project Owner/s
ANWIL, a subsidiary of PKN ORLEN.

Project Description
The project entails the construction of new facilities for the production of 1 265 t/d of nitric acid and 1 200 t/d of ammonium nitrate.

Potential Job Creation
Once completed, the fertiliser project will create 200 new jobs.

Capital Expenditure
Z1-billion.

Planned Start/End Date
Not stated.

Latest Developments
thyssenkrupp’s Industrial Solutions business area has received an order for the construction of the fertiliser plant.

The order includes the provision of technology licences and the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the new facilities.

thyssenkrupp’s patented EnviNOx process will be used to remove greenhouse gases from nitric acid production. The process converts environmentally harmful laughing gas (nitrous oxide) and other nitrogen oxides into nitrogen, oxygen and water using a special catalyst. This will reduce the emissions of the new plant by about 3 200 t/y of nitrous oxide and 1 000 t/y of nitrogen oxide. Since the global warming potential of nitrous oxide is estimated to be 310 times greater than that of carbon dioxide, this corresponds to carbon dioxide reduction of about one-million tons a year.

Key Contracts and Suppliers
thyssenkrupp (EPC).

On Budget and on Time?
Not stated.
