Fatality reported at Barrick's Hemlo mine, Ontario

An employee of Barminco has died at the Hemlo mine, in Ontario, gold miner Barrick reported on Thursday.

The incident occurred at about 21:30 on Wednesday.

Barrick said that it had suspended operations to allow for an investigation into the cause of the fatality.

Barmico, a subsidiary of Perenti, provides underground mining services to the Hemlo mine.

Barrick and Pereti extended their sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues of the employee.
