Fatality at Mponeng Mine

AngloGold Ashanti regrets to announce the death of an employee at Mponeng Mine in the Carletonville area. Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased, an electrician, was fatally injured in a heavy equipment incident. A full on site investigation is currently in progress.

The DMR has been notified and an in loco inspection has been carried out. In the meantime, Management has stopped activities relating to the lifting of equipment in the underground workings.

AngloGold Ashanti would like to express its sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased. Management is working with the employee’s family to assist them through this difficult time.
