Name of the Project
Eva copper mine project renewable hybrid power facility.

Location
North-west Queensland, Australia.

Project Owner/s
Power solutions provider Aggreko.

Aggreko finalised a landmark power purchase agreement (PPA) with international miner Harmony Gold Mining Company in April 2026.

The PPA, with a minimum term of 15 years, will result in Aggreko's building, owning and operating the renewable hybrid power facility to support the construction and operation of Harmony’s Eva copper mine.

Project Description
The project proposes the development of Australia’s largest off-grid renewable hybrid power facility.

The facility will combine low-emissions thermal generation with solar and battery storage infrastructure to provide power for the construction and operation of the mine.

It will incorporate a 104 MVA thermal power facility with flexibility to scaleup, a 118 MWp solar farm and a 250 MWh battery energy storage system.

This will allow for a high renewable contribution, reduced fuel consumption and improved emissions performance across the mine’s life cycle.

Aggreko and Harmony are also collaborating on further increasing renewable-energy distribution over time, including potential wind integration and future connection to transmission infrastructure, ensuring the power solution remains flexible and evolves with the project’s long-term requirements.

Potential Job Creation
The project is expected to create regional employment opportunities and support local contracting, supply and service partners in Cloncurry and Mount Isa.
