Project Description
The town of Enniscorthy is located on the banks of the River Slaney and has a long history of flooding, most recently in 2015.

The proposed works cover a 3.5 km section of the Slaney river.

Major elements include the construction of flood defence walls on both banks of the river, river channel widening and deepening, a flow diversion channel, underpinning of existing bridges and river bed stabilisation. The scope of work also includes the design and construction of a new pedestrian bridge crossing the river in the centre of the town.

The project will cost between €30-million and €40-million.

Duration
The scheme is expected to be completed in 2019.
