Following an extensive 8-month, multimillion Rand revamp, motorists passing through KwaZulu-Natal, can now experience modern and inviting convenience facilities when traveling along the N3, both North and Southbound.

Engen Tugela 1Stop, which operates 24/7, is centrally located between Johannesburg and Durban,  2km from the Tugela Toll Plaza towards Durban.

Serving commuters and holidaymakers, the site is perfectly positioned as a gateway to the majestic Drakensberg mountains which are visible from the site.

The new-look petrol station, which first opened to the public at the end of 2018 were officially launched on the 7 May 2019.

Both North and Southbound offer quality fuels such as Engen Primax Unleaded and Engen Dynamic Diesel 50ppm, with ease of access and fast and efficient service for commuters.

Other facilities include for truck, taxi and bus drivers include bathroom facilities with showers, a kitchen, braai and rest area.

“We wanted to provide a rest area for drivers, who often have to travel many hours over long distances,” say directors of Engen Tugela 1Stop, Izak Bam and Frans Mabena.

“These drivers are often responsible for transporting valuable cargo, the most important being passengers and we take pride that we can provide a special break area for all these drivers. We believe that a happy and well rested driver is a good driver.  So we want to ensure that all drivers who stop at Engen Tugela 1Stop are happy when they get back onto the highway.”

Customers can also enjoy a diverse range of convenience services, including an Engen Quickshop, Wimpy, Corner Bakery and, in a first for the Engen 1Stop, a KFC. There is also a secure Absa ATM available inside the main building.

“We would like to thank our loyal customers for their patience and incredible support over the past 8 months, during the revamp.  Customers can now enjoy the pristine restroom facilities which have doubled in size from the original facilities.  The sites also boasts new state of the art water filtration and sewage systems,” add Bam and Mabena.

“We employ around 200 people, many of whom come from the local community.  They are all delighted to be back on site, doing what they do best – serving our customers.

“We look forward to continuing with our projects in the local community. We currently support our local church and a number of schools as well as a community vegetable garden project and supply of drinking water to the community.

“The Engen brand has a substantial footprint and is well known amongst our customers who have come to associate themselves with Engen’s brand promise of “With us you are Number One”.  This promise fits in with our high operating standards and shared vision.”

Says Engen’s Head of Retail, Seelan Naidoo: “Engen is very excited to see our network flourishing. Convenience and customer service remain key determinants of success in our industry.

“We wish Izak, Frans and their team every success.”
