Engen, a leading energy multinational in sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands, has taken sponsorship of a two-day training event in fuel management for Africa’s aviation industry, taking place from 17-19 March in Mauritius, at the Maritim Crystals Beach Hotel.

Engen Mauritius managing director, Joan Njoroge, says the company’s legal and technical advisors will be on hand to add subject matter and procedural expertise to the event, hosted by the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) and International Air Transport Association (IATA).

“We’re thrilled at the prospect of being part of this event,” says Ms Njoroge. “Engen has recently invested in more fuel supply infrastructure in Mauritius and foresees further investments in due course, which we believe will stimulate competition in the market.”

“An essential aspect of our African quest is our belief that aviation is a vital catalyst for economic and social development in Africa,” she says. “Engen is committed to developing capacity, skills and training in the African aviation industry and views this as a critical priority.”

In 2014 Engen was named ‘Service Provider of the Year’ by AFRAA and acknowledged for its “extensive service provision of aviation fuel services in Africa, and commitment towards the support of, and capacity building in, African aviation”.
