Engen powers Truck Test 2026 as official fuel and lubrication partner

As fuel costs escalate across the logistics sector, Engen’s role supplying all fuel for Truck Test 2026 underscores a shared commitment to helping South African operators understand – and improve – their efficiency where it matters most.
Engen, one of sub-Saharan Africa’s most recognised fuel and lubricants brands, has been confirmed as the official fuel and lubrication partner of Truck Test 2026 – the most ambitious extra-heavy commercial vehicle comparison event ever held in South Africa, and one of the largest of its kind on the African continent.
Organised by FOCUS on Transport & Logistics and running from 10-12 November 2026, Truck Test 2026 brings together 19 trucks from the world’s foremost manufacturers – including Daewoo, DAF, FAW, Foton, Hino, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Powerstar, Scania, Shacman, Sinotruk and Volvo Trucks – for rigorous evaluation under real-world operating conditions.
“We all know how important fuel efficiency has become. Every litre counts – and Truck Test is all about understanding how to use those litres most effectively,” says Charleen Clarke, editorial director, FOCUS on Transport & Logistics
Every litre tells a story
Fuel is at the centre of everything Truck Test measures. The event’s productivity index is built on a straightforward but commercially critical question: how much work can a truck perform per litre of fuel? Answering that question accurately requires a controlled, consistent fuel supply – and that is exactly what Engen provides.
By supplying all the fuel consumed during the test, Engen ensures that no competing truck is advantaged or disadvantaged by variations in fuel quality or specification. Every vehicle draws from the same source, under the same conditions – a standard that is essential for results operators can trust.
Comments Adnaan Emeran, Engen Marketing Manager: Commercial & Lubricants: “Truck Test 2026 provides a valuable platform for the transport industry to benchmark performance under real-world operating conditions. By supplying a consistent, high-quality fuel source and trusted lubrication solutions across all participating vehicles, Engen is helping ensure the integrity and credibility of the results. At a time when fleet operators are under increasing pressure to improve efficiency and manage rising operating costs, reliable data and dependable energy solutions have never been more important.”
Fuel efficiency: the industry’s most pressing challenge
South African transport operators are navigating one of the most challenging cost environments in recent memory. Fuel prices have escalated significantly, and with fuel typically representing the single largest operating cost for a long-haul fleet, the pressure to improve consumption has never been more acute.
Truck Test 2026 arrives at precisely the right moment. The data it generates – independent, comparable and derived from real-world conditions rather than laboratory simulations – gives operators the evidence base they need to make smarter procurement decisions. In a sector where a single percentage point improvement in fuel economy translates into substantial savings across a fleet, this information has genuine financial value.
Truck Test 2026 has received endorsement from the Road Freight Association (RFA), the Southern African Association of Freight Forwarders (SAAFF), the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport South Africa (CILTSA) and SAPICS, the supply chain professionals body. The event’s official partner ecosystem also includes TruckScience as technical partner, Afrit as trailer partner, Bandag as tyre partner, ZF as aftermarket partner, Ctrack as telematics partner, and WearCheck partnering to deliver condition monitoring through oil analysis.
