Location
The project is located in the Port of Acajutla, Department of Sonsonate, in El Salvador.

Energía del Pacífico, a joint venture between Invenergy Clean Power El Salvador and Quantum Energy.

Project Description
The project comprises the construction, operation and maintenance of:

• a 378 MW combined-cycle power generation plant that will run on natural gas;
• an offshore liquefied natural gas marine terminal, which will include a dedicated, permanently moored, floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) that will deliver gas to the power plant;
• a 1.3 km underwater pipeline and a 500 m onshore underground pipeline that will run from the marine terminal to the power plant; and
• a 44 km double circuit 230 kV transmission line connecting the power plant to three substations.

Included in the project is the construction of an 44 km, 230 kV transmission line connecting the power plant to the Ahuachapan substation and a 400 m, 115 kV transmission line connecting the power plant to the Acajutla substation.

The power plant and the FSRU will be located within an existing port and industrial area, secured under a 24-year lease agreement.

Potential Job Creation
It will create about 1 000 jobs during construction and more than 60 permanent jobs.

Duration
Civil works at the plant site are planned to start in the second quarter of 2019, with the project expected to start commercial operation in 2021.
