Strategically developed as a 'one-stop' trade event, Electra Mining Botswana will play a vital role in bringing related industries together at one location in Botswana for visitor and exhibitor convenience. Embracing mining, industrial, power generation and machine tools industries, the show will provide an enabling environment to network with key decision-makers, make valuable business connections, discover the latest in technology developments and find out about the latest new products, equipment and services.

Taking place from 3-5 September at the Gaborone Fairgrounds in Gaborone, this inaugural event is a joint venture between Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery, a South African company, and Soapbox Communications, a local Botswana company, and will provide a unique platform for local and international companies to meet with the intention of promoting trade. The show also has the endorsement of the Botswana Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, and of the Botswana Chamber of Mines and the Botswana Diamond Hub.

“There is much to be seen at the show with the opportunity to interact with exhibitors and their technical experts, attend information packed conferences, network with decision-makers and boost collaboration and international trade,” says Gary Corin, Managing Director at Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery. “The co-located conferences provide a discussion forum for all involved in mineral exploration and will provide an ideal platform for technology transfer as well as the opportunity for identifying potential investors to boost collaboration and international trade in the minerals development sector in Botswana,” says Corin. The Exploration Exchange Conference will focus on finding matches between mining opportunities and sources of financing in the region. It is designed to be the communication centerpiece for mining and investment opportunities for companies, governments and related industries.

The Mines & Money Botswana Conference is one of the most significant mining investment events in Botswana providing a platform for mining industries, financiers and other investors to conduct exploration, investment and development strategies. It provides the opportunity for mining companies and investment organisations, covering Botswana, Southern Africa and other regions of the globe to communicate with Botswana’s most influential decision makers from the investment communities, government and the mining sector.

Visitors can expect to see a wide range of products and services related to mining, industrial engineering and manufacturing, electrical engineering, power generation, materials handling, safety, health and environment, machines tools and construction. Exhibitors at Electra Mining Botswana include SSAB South Africa, Tubestone Tyres, Tega Industries South Africa, Mersino Pump SA, A2C Distributors, Franklin Electric, Aqua 24, Brady, Special Industrial Supplies, Dromex, Schneider Electric South Africa, Bauer Dewet Equipment, Joy Global Africa, First Tech Exports, Derrick Corporation, Airgas Compressors, Vermont Sales, Master Lock, Schopf Maschinenbau, Zismo Engineering and Prothane Industrial.

Botswana remains the highest-rated African country in Business Environment Rankings and has a well-developed mining sector. The excavation of rich mineral reserves is a significant driver of Botswana’s economic growth and, with a stable legislative environment, backed by a government looking to grow its gross domestic product (GDP), Botswana’s mining industry has a positive outlook for the coming year.

“As an international mining, industrial, power generation and machine tools event, our expectation is that Electra Mining Botswana will help link Botswana with other countries to further develop and diversify local industry and business,” says Corin. “With the location of the event in Gaborone, there is easy access for Botswana visitors, as well as those from South Africa and other surrounding African countries.”

Co-ordinated meetings between exhibitors and mining executives, technical visits, technology tours, international workshops with presentations for exhibitors and visitors about the requirements for the procurement and the supply of current mining projects in Botswana and informal gatherings in the evenings that bring together foreign and national exhibitors as well as mining executives, are just some of the additional value-add options available at the show.
