Project Description
The El-Dabaa NPP will be the first nuclear power plant in Egypt. The project will involve the construction of an NPP comprising four Russian-designed VVER-1200 pressurised water reactors.
With a nameplate capacity of 4.8 GWe, the plant is expected to account for up to 50% of Egypt’s power generation capacity to increase the country’s increasing demand for electricity.

South Korean company Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP) will construct the ‘turbine islands’ for the El Dabaa NPP.
NPPs are subdivided into nuclear islands, which contain the reactors and their associated systems and infrastructure; turbine islands, with the electricity-generating turbines and their associated systems and infrastructure; and the balance of plant, which are the offices and other administrative and personnel support facilities.
